Everyday this week we’ll be doing round-up articles on the participants in this years contest. Today we are looking at the participants from Afghanistan, Brunei and Kyrgyzstan and finding out more about them.

Shahzad Will Represent Afghanistan
  • Name: Shahzad Adeel
  • Representing: Afghanistan
  • Song: Ma Ba Tu’em (Sobh E Abadi)

Shahzad launched his career in music in 2009, after just 4 years in the business he is one of the most well known Afghan artists. Shahzad was taught in the Indian Embassy to sing and is known for singing in Pashto and Dari. His latest album called “Hamdeli” was dedicated to songs about Afghanistan and this is where his entry this year comes from. His entry is all about national unity and patriotism, and looking forward to a better Afghanistan.

  • Name: Qeez Idrus
  • Representing: Brunei
  • Song: Salahkah Aku

Qeez is the first artist from Brunei to take part in the contest. Qeez has been in the music industry for 7 years making her debut with the song “Tak Kan”. To date Qeez has released 3 singles, and in 2011 won the Anugarah Pelangi for the best female vocal. Qeez is one of the youngest participants in the contest being just 20 when she takes to stage in Hanoi.

Tola Is Representing Kyrgyzstan
  • Name: Tola Tursunaliev
  • Representing: Kyrgyztsan
  • Song: The Power Of Love

Tola will be bringing Kyrgyzstan to the ABU TV Song Festival for the first time this year.  Tola has been in the music industry for a decade, starting off in a duet. It was only in 2012 that Tola decided to go off for a solo career, his debut solo single was released to acclaim from critics. He is currently working on a new album in co-operation with one of Kyrgyzstan’s biggest DJs.
