So here are mine and William’s quick thoughts about tonight’s semi final:
- There are no Balkan countries in the final whatsoever, this has never happened before in Eurovision history at least one Balkan nation has been in the final since 1985.
- All bar one of the ex-Soviet countries are in the final, Latvia make it 5 years in a row of not making it to the Eurovision finals.
- San Marino, the fan favourite has crashed and fallen out of the contest again. San Marino had said they may withdraw if they did not make it to the final.
- All of the Nordic’s are in the final for the first time since the 2000 Eurovision Song Contest which was also hosted by Sweden, that year Denmark one, is it a sign?
- None of the first three countries qualified, which is a shock.
More in-depth thoughts and views tomorrow.
As far as I remember, in 2008 an 2009 there were also all Scandinavian countries in the final.
Greece is a balkan country…..
It may be a Balkan country, but it is not part of the normal Balkan voting pact.
