In a first for the website we have managed to interview one of this years entrants to Eurovision. We managed to secure an interview with PeR this year’s Latvian entrants and here is what they had to say to us.
Congratulations on being selected to represent Latvia at Eurovision. How does it feel?
It feels awesome! Eurovision means a lot to us, because we think it’s a huge opportunity to show the world what kind of music is in your country and also to show ourselves as a band.
You have tried three times before to represent Latvia at Eurovision, did it fuel your desire to try again each time?
Apparently – Yes. We really did everything to win the Latvian final, so we are really happy and proud that we did it.
You had two songs taking part in this years selection both of which made it to the final, were you expecting that to happen?
We couldn’t decide which song to submit, because both our songs are great, so we just submitted both songs. We didn’t expect to qualify for the finals with two songs, but we were proud, because it was a new record for Latvia.
Latvia has not been in the Eurovision final since 2008, how would it feel for you to get Latvia into the final?
That is actually our goal. We would really love that.
How would you describe your song “Here We Go”?
The song was actually written for our first album “PeR” and only after that we thought that we might participate in ESC. The song is positive but with a really deep meaning.
