Even More Changes

Big changes have been announced to the rehearsals for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest. Here is a breakdown of the changes to next years contest:

  • Rehearsals will now begin a day later than usual on 6th of May.
  • The first rehearsals will be held behind closed doors.
  • Press and fans are able to follow the rehearsals from the EuroClub on screens. This means there will be no videos from the press of these first rehearsals.
  • After their rehearsal, each country will be transported to the EuroClub to do interviews and photo sessions.
  • The press centre will open on Friday the 10th of May. On that morning the host broadcaster SVT and the EBU will hold a press conference.
  • Later that day, the second round of rehearsals will begin, with the press able to watch.
  • The rehearsals will then finish on Sunday 12 May.
  • Each country will hold a 20 minute press conference after their second rehearsal.
  • The big 5 countries will rehearse on Saturday 11 May and Wednesday 15 May.
  • The full dress rehearsals and jury finals for each show will take place as previously organised.

This means that the time that the delegations have to spend in Malmö is reduced by a day which lowers the cost of participation. But on the downside we are now no longer able to view any of the 1st rehearsal videos from the press.
