Turkey: TRT Considers Withdrawal

It’s “Too Predictable”

The Turkish Media are reporting that TRT may be withdrawing from Eurovision after the President deems the contest “too predictable”. İbrahim Şahin the General Director of TRT said to local media that the winner was chosen months in advance of the contest and urged for the current voting system to be discussed. He went on to say that TRT had considered withdrawing from the contest but decided to stay due to the contest being held in Azerbaijan.

Since the Semi Finals were introduced in 2004 Turkey has only missed the final once in 2011. In the Years that they made it to the final they have placed in the top.10 6 times, the top.5 4 times and the top.3 once. We will have to wait and see if TRT will be in Malmo, if TRT were to withdraw there at this current moment would not be another possible broadcaster in Turkey with EBU membership.
