The Netherlands: Anouk Must Go Through National Selection

She Will Not Be Internally Selected

Anouk one of the Netherlands biggest music stars has been told by the Dutch broadcaster TROS that she must still go through a National Selection. Anouk who said she had been working on a “killer song” for Eurovision was turned down by TROS to be chosen internally for the contest next May in Sweden.

In response to this TROS inssued a statement saying “We are delighted that Anouk thinks about the contest, but (she) must take part in a national final. ” She is obviously disappointed… but we want the Dutch public and a jury to decide what is the best song for Eurovision.” The National Final will be held in January.

The Netherlands has used a National Selection since 2009, the only artists that have been selected internally in recent years are Edsilia Rombley in 2007 however she still had to do a final for her song to be chosen. And in 2008 when Hind was selected along with her song “Your Heart Belongs To Me” by NOS internally.
