The Australian broadcaster SBS has confirmed that it will once again air the Eurovision Song Contest next year. The network has aired the show for years, usually showing the BBC broadcast.
Since 2009 the network has been sending its own team of commentators, organising online polls, producing specialised shows and has managed to popularise the contest amongst Australians in recent years.
The news announced at its 2012 program launch party in Sydney. There is no word whether SBS will broadcast the upcoming Junior Eurovision Song Contest, which it has done so up until last year.
Due to several time zones in Australia, the two semi finals and final of the Eurovision Song Contest are aired some 12 hours after the event is broadcast in Europe, although there has been increasing calls for the network to air the show live (at 5.00 AM on Australia
