3,485 songs submitted for Melodifestivalen

The deadline to submit songs for Melodifestivalen passed at midnight lastnight and a total of 2,485 songs have been entered to the biggest Eurovisionselection in Europe. The numbers on the whole are down 347 on last year but webjoker songs are up a record 146 to 560 songs. Christer Bjorkman head of theselection said he was very pleased with the amount of songs but said that itwas the quality of the song that matters.

Web Joker voting will open in October and November and votes may be madehere: svt.se/melodifestivalen. Out of the 3,485 songs only 32 will make it tothe live contest, a special jury will select the best 16 songs, a further 15will be chosen by the public by web voting and will receive a wildcard invitationfrom SVT.
