After initial rumors of her participation in the Greek National Final of 2011, rumours heated up once again in June 2011 that Ivi Adamou is now ready and willing to enter Eurovision on behalf of Cyprus. These rumours have been  confirmed by Cypriot broadcaster, the CyBC, today, making Ivi the first artist announced for next years contest in Baku. After completing her studies in 2011 after participation in the 2nd series of X Factor in Greece, the Cypriot born singer reportedly entered talks with Cypriot broadcaster, the CyBC, and reached an agreement sometime in June 2011. Now Ivi will become the 30th representative for Cyprus and represent the small Island nation at the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest.Cyprus has been having a tough time in the contest recently only qualifying for the semi finals since they were introduced in 2004 once in 2010 when represented by only one Cypriot and a mixture of other nationalities one of whom was a welsh lad who brought Cyprus back to the finals.


According to ESCDaily there will be a January 1st National Final with a total of 3-5 songs presented by Ivi. The winning song will go on to represent Cyprus in Baku next May. Also they have been informed only CyBC invited composers may take part in the song submission process. However, this is currently unconfirmed by the CyBC.
