Four backing singers will feature alongside Melani at this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

Spanish broadcaster RTVE has revealed that Edurne Rodríguez, Yara Díez, Violeta Leal and María Mihali will join Melani on stage in Gliwice, Poland, next month. The girls stated that “working with Melani is super exciting and she has an incredible voice”. They continued, “We are very excited to live this experience together as we are partners in the singing academy and we will meet children from other countries”.

The four singers are between 12 and 13 years old, and have training in performing, namely singing and dancing. It was also earlier revealed that Violeta Leal will announce Spain’s jury points at the contest.

Spain is returning to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest after a thirteen year break and is one of three Big Five nations now competing in the contest. Spain’s return to the contest comes one year after France returned to the competition. They will be represented by Melani Garcia and her song “Marte”.

During the four years Spain took part in Junior Eurovision, it achieved great results; two runner-up places in 2003 and 2005, fourth place in 2006 and first place in 2004 with María Isabel and her song “Antes muerta que sencilla”. In that same year, TVE achieved record audiences of 6 million viewers.
