Andrea Demirović has revealed new details about “Ja sam ti san”, the song she hopes will take her back to the Eurovision stage for a second time.
Ten years on from representing Montenegro at the Eurovision Song Contest, Andrea has revealed more about the entry she hopes will take her to Tel Aviv. Speaking to CDM.me Andrea revealed her surprise at being selected as one of the five artists to compete in Montevizija 2019. She explained that;
I’m a little surprised that such a modern style has passed, because I think this song is radically different from all the previous tracks that Montenegro has so far represented in Europe.
Andrea believes that should she make it to the contest in Tel Aviv, she has a far greater chance of making it to the final than in 2009;
With the experience of one Eurosong behind me, the singing experience and the creative team I gathered, I think I would now have a much greater chance of going to the finals than in 2009 in Moscow. It is interesting that there are many cases where returnees have achieved good results, and fans of the competition love such stories.
Since her participation in 2009 the singer revealed she has been approached by various songwriters, but this year she couldn’t turn down what she was offered;
only accepted this year, because it was actually a tender I could not refuse. Such a song appears once every ten years. The demo version was done by Primoz Poglajen, Adam Featherstone and Michael James Down, and for the final version of the song, another Englishman whose identity has been kept secret for now.
Regarding what we can expect from her song, Andrea added;
The song is dark but dynamic. I was singing it differently than I ever sang, and I want to present it in Montevizija with an unusual performance. I tried to write interesting and memorable lyrics. This time I will sing in our language, because I want the song to be preferred to people in Montenegro and the region.
The final of Montevizija 2019 will take place on February 9, with five artists competing to represent Montenegro in Israel. The running order for the show is:

- Andrea Demirović – Ja sam ti san
- Monika Knezović – Nepogrješiva
- Ivana Popović-Martinović – Nevinost
- Nina Petković – Uzmi ili ostavi
RTCG had previously stated that the five selected songs would then face the public in Montevizija 2019. The public was then going to vote on the act that they wanted to see represent Montenegro in Tel Aviv next May.
Montenegro was represented by Vanja Radovanovic at the 2018 contest in Lisbon, Portugal. With his song “Inje”, he placed 16th in the semi-final. The singer had faced calls for his withdrawal from the competition in the hours before his performance, due to comments made at a press conference.

Montenegro debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest as an independent country in 2007, and participated until 2010 when they withdrew for financial reasons. They returned to the contest in 2012, and since then have always chosen their entry internally. Montenegro failed to qualify for the grand final until 2014, when Sergej Ćetković and his song “Moj svijet” placed 19th in the final. Their best result came a year later, when Knez performed “Adio” in Vienna. They have never reached the top 10, with Knez reaching 13th out of 27 countries.
