The EBU revealed last night changes to the way that the points are now calculated at Eurovision. This new change sees the jury rank every country apart from their own from 1 to 26, 1 being their favourite and 26 being their least favourite. This is then combined with the televote that will rank from 1 to 26.
So a song that wins the jury vote will get 1 point and the song that comes last will get 26 points. So for example a song that comes 1st with the jury and 26th with the public will now score 27 points, whilst a song that comes 10th with the jury and 10th with the public will score 20 points.
What this means is that instead of having a ranking of 12 points down to 1 and all other countries scoring nothing, you now have a better representation of the true results. However the classic Eurovision 12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 point system will stay.
