Fourteen songs will be competing to represent Moldova at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 later this month. In the semi-final just eight singers will progress through to the final on February 25th, four of these songs are selected by jury voting only, with the remaining four selected by public televote. In the final the winner of the Moldovan selection process will be decided by 50% televote and 50% jury voting, in the event of a tie the jury will decide the country’s participant.
Today, the running order for the national selection semi-final has been revealed. The running order was drawn randomly to give all participants a fair chance – the draw was broadcast live on TRM’s official website earlier on.

What Happened to Boris Covali?
Earlier this week Boris Covali became the third artist to drop out from competing in O Melodie Pentru Europa 2017. TRM stated that Boris has decided to drop out of the selection process due to personal reasons. Boris joins Irina Kit and Constantin Cobîlean in dropping out of the Moldovan selection process having been chosen to compete in the semi-final. Replacing Boris is Doga Liuba with the song “One Thought Away”.

In 2005 Moldova debuted in the contest alongside Bulgaria, while that year Hungary also returned to the contest having been absent since 1998. Moldova is currently in its worse run of results in their history in the contest, having failed to make the final since 2013. At the 2017 contest in Stockholm, the country finished 17th in their semi-final scoring a total of 33 points.[/tw-accordion-section] [/tw-accordion]
