Christer Björkman, former producer of Melodifestivalen and producer of the American Song Contest has spoken to Sveriges Radio about the upcoming plans for Eurovision Canada.
Earlier this year the Eurovision Song Contest is set to come to Canadian screens in the form of ‘Eurovision Canda’ in 2023. The European Broadcasting Union and Insight Productions announced the creation of the competition on April 25th.
Artists from each of the 10 provinces and 3 territories of Canada will compete in a series of Qualification shows, Semi-Finals and a Grand Final.
Mr Björkman said that after the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest he will do a workshop with the production team. After that, meetings and talks with Canadian tv stations will commence. He also added that they want to continue with the American Song Contest as well in 2023.
The exact dates of the contest, hosts and the broadcaster of the competition will be announced in the coming months.
