🇨🇾 Cyprus: Eurovision Young Musicians 2026 Application Window Extended by a Month

CyBC, the Cypriot national broadcaster, has extended the application window for Eurovision Young Musicians 2026 by a month.

Two days before the original deadline, CyBC has announced that the application window for the Cypriot selection selection for Eurovision Young Musicians 2026 will be extended by one month. This means that applicants now have until January 31 to apply to the selection.

The rules of the selection are:

• Musicians are aged between 12 and 21 on June 6, 2026.
• Only soloists may apply.
• Musicians must perform classical works for a solo instrument with orchestra.
• The 5:00 to 6:30 piece that is performed at the national selection will be performed at Eurovision Young Musicians.

A select number of musicians will be invited to a live audition held at the CyBC studios in January. The winner selected by a jury formed of three to five musicians.

Cyprus participated 12 times in Eurovision Young Musicians between 1988 and 2010 and is the only nation to have sent the same representative to the contest for three editions in a row. Cyprus will return to Eurovision Young Musicians for the first time since 2010.

Eurovision Young Musicians 2026 will take place on June 6 in Yerevan. This will be the third time that a Eurovision contest has been held in the city. To date, the following countries have confirmed participation:

Eurovision Young Musicians

Eurovision Young Musicians is a contest for musicians between the ages of 12 and 21. It has been held since 1982, as the first spin-off contest of the Eurovision Song Contest. The event celebrated its 20th edition in 2022, when Montpellier hosted the competition.

A total of 42 countries have competed over 21 editions of the contest. Norway has competed in 20 out of the 21 contests, tied with Austria. Austria is the most successful country, having won six editions and competed in 17 finals. Leonhard Baumgartner from Austria is the latest winner of the contest, taking victory in Bodø‎ in 2024.
