🇳🇴 Norway: 21 Songs Across Six Shows Will Compete in Melodi Grand Prix 2022

A total of twenty-one songs will compete to represent Norway at Eurovision 2022 in Melodi Grand Prix.

ESC Norge reports that a total of twenty-one songs have been selected to compete in Melodi Grand Prix 2022. Melodi Grand Prix will feature a total of six shows formed of four semi-finals, a second chance round and the Grand Final. Overall the competition will be one show shorter than in 2021.

Each semi-final will be formed of four songs as seen in the past two years, one song will qualify from each of these semi-finals for the Grand Final. Five songs will be pre-qualified to compete in the Grand Final, with a second chance round also being held.

Tickets for Melodi Grand Prix 2022 will go on sale tomorrow, the exact dates of the shows will be announced then. NRK will reveal the artists competing in Melodi Grand Prix 2022 on Monday, January 6th 2022. The songs will be revealed at later date, the exact method of their reveal has not been confirmed.

Norway debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1960 and have won the contest three times – in 1985, 1995 and 2009. The country has the dubious record of finishing last the most times, eleven in total, and have received nul points four times. Norway last won the contest in 2009 when Alexander Rybak broke all records with his song “Fairytale”. He scored 387 points in the final, receiving 16 sets of 12 points and scoring points from every country.
