Curt-Eric Holmquist who conducted for Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest six times has died at the age of 73.
Pianist and conductor Curt-Eric Holmquist has passed away at the age of 73 following a battle with leukemia. Holmquist was born in 1948 and became known to the Swedish public when he was involved with TV shows in Sweden in the early 1980s.
He will be known to fans of the Eurovision Song Contest as a conductor for Sweden at the contest six times. He first conducted at the competition in 1984 when the Herreyโs took victory for Sweden in Luxembourg. He returned in 1985 as the Musical Director in Gothenburg, also conducting for Belgium & Sweden. He would return to the contest five more times in 1987, 1990, 1993, and 1997.
