Out of approximately 20.000 COVID-19-tests that were taken among staff, journalists, artists, only nine tests came back as positive, according to reports of APN.
This number includes the reported cases from the past week among the Polish and Icelandic delegations. The other positive test results came back from staff of the venue, e.g. construction workers or security guards, who are likely to have been infected outside of the event.
Executive producer Sietse Bakker added:
“None of the infections have taken place within Ahoy, so the strict testing regime has worked well so far.”
During the course of April 6th and May 17th, approximately 20.000 tests have been taken. Members of staff, press and the participants have to be tested upon entering the Ahoy arena in Rotterdam.
