The Semi-Final of Melodifestivalen 2023 took place in Örnsköldsvik this evening, with eight artists hoping to make it to the final in Stockholm.
The format for the Semi-Final has changed for 2023, all eight artists were competing, with the four acts that receive the highest number of points qualifying. Midway through the voting window, the public were shown who the top four are in a random order before voting continues until the window closes.
The acts that received the most votes in the first half of the show were:
- Nordman
- Kiana
- Theoz
- Mariette
The results of the Semi-Final are as follows (qualifiers in bold):
- Theoz – “Mer av dig” (“More Of You”) – 70 points
- Mariette – “One Day” – 63 points
- Victor Crone – “Diamonds” – 28 points
- Tennessee Tears – “Now I Know” – 55 points
- Elov & Beny – “Raggen går” (“The Rattle Goes”) – 18 points
- Melanie Wehbe – “For the Show” – 22 points
- Nordman – “Släpp alla sorger” (“Let Go Of All Sorrows”) – 75 points
- Kiana – “Where Did You Go” – 69 points
During the show, Pernilla Wahlgren got nominated into the Melodifestivalen Hall of Fame with her song Picadilly Circus. Due to her being unable to perform in Örnsköldsvik tonight, the band Lucianoz sang their version of Picadilly Circus.
The final of Melodifestivalen 2023 will take on March 11th in the Friends Arena in Stockholm. The winner of Melodifestivalen will represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool.

Sweden debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1958 and has gone on to be one of the contest’s most successful countries. The country has won the contest six times, the most recent being in 2015. Sweden’s first victory came in 1974 when ABBA won the contest in Brighton with “Waterloo”. Since missing out on the final in 2010, Sweden has gone on to finish 3rd twice and has won the contest twice. Only in 2013 and 2021 did the country place outside of the top 10 in the final.
