Michael Kealy, Head of Delegation for Ireland, said:
“I am really impressed by the quality and standard of the six acts we have in our Eurosong final this year.
“The Eurovision Song Contest is a global phenomenon, and the competition is getting harder every year, but whichever of our six finalists gets to represent Ireland in Liverpool in May I’ve no doubt they will represent us brilliantly, winning new fans all over the world.”
Eurosong 2023 will take place on February 3 as a special edition of the Late Late Show. Like last year, the winner will be chosen by a combination of a national jury, an international jury and public voting.

Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest
Ireland debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1965 and is currently the most successful country to have participated in the contest, winning a total of seven times. During the 1990โs Ireland was a powerhouse in the contest becoming the first country to win three years in a row from 1992 to 1994. Since 2000 Ireland has struggled in the contest having qualified from the semi-final into the final just six out of a possible 13 times. Irelandโs last top 10 result came in 2011 when Jedward finished 8th in Dรผsseldorf.
