Iltalehti has reported the first participants rumored to be participating in UMK 2023, the Finnish selection for the Eurovision Song Contest.
The first participants rumored to be participating in the Finnish selection for Eurovision 2023 have been reported by Iltalehti. Iltalehti traditionally reports on the participants in UMK 2023 ahead of their formal announcement and has in previous years correctly reported participants.
According to the outlet, three names have been stated by different sources as participating in the Finnish selection. Robin Packalen, Portion Boys and Lxandra are all reported to be competing for the right to represent Finland in Liverpool.
Robin Packalen is also known as Robin has been active since he was 10 years old and has released four number-one albums in Finland, he last had a number-one single in 2019. Portion Boys are a pop dance band performing since 2010 and in 2021 had a number-one single with “Vauhti kiittyu”. Lxandra is a Finnish-Swedish singer-songwriter and former blogger and released her first album in 2021.
The seven acts that will participate in UMK 2023 will be announced on January 11. The competing songs will be released on separate days from January 12 to 20. The final of UMK 2023 will take place on February 25 in Logomo in Turku. Logomo will play host to UMK for the second year in a row and the third time overall.

Finland first participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1961, they debuted alongside Spain and Yugoslavia. Finland has finished last in the contest on 10 occasions and has received โnul pointsโ three times. It wasnโt until 2006 that Finland won the Eurovision Song Contest. Lordi represented the country in Athens with the song โHard Rock Hallelujahโ scoring 292 points, a record total at the time.
