Evrovizija.com reports that EMA Freš will now be formed of one final, instead of two televised finals.
The Slovenian Eurovision website Evrovizija reports that EMA Freš will now be formed of just one televised final on January 28. The RTVSLO schedule shows the final show of EMA Freš will be broadcast on January 28 between 20:00 and 21:35, with the show titled as “the final”.
Previously RTVSLO had stated that two shows would be held in January with seven songs in each of the shows, one song will be chosen by the public and one by the jury to go through to the final of EMA 2022. The four EMA Freš finalists will join sixteen acts who will compete to represent Slovenia at Eurovision 2022. It is not known whether the one show final will see just two acts progress through to the EMA 2022 final, or four acts will progress.
A total of fourteen acts have been chosen by the Slovenian public and a jury to compete in EMA Freš:
- Stela Sofia – Tu in zdaj (Here and now)
- LPS – Disko (Disco)
- Jon Vitezič – Jesus Style
- Ina – Moj dopamin (My dopamine)
- Jaka Hliš – Svoje sreče krojač (Your luck tailor)
- LUMA – All In
- Leya Leanne – Naked
- De Liri – Obstajam (I exist)
- Marijan Novak and Špela Velikanje – I Am So in Love
- Katja Kos – Deadly Flower
- Emma – Moja sreča (My happiness)
- Anja Vodošek – Maniac
- Mia Vučković – Telenovela
- Nika S. – Počakaj me (Wait for me)

Slovenia was one of three countries to join the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993. The country qualified through a specially organised selection round called “Kvalifikacija za Millstreet” which was hosted in Slovenia, seven countries competed for three spots in Eurovision 1993. Their best result came in 1995 when Darja Švajger finished 7th scoring a total of 84 points, she is closely followed by Nuša Derenda who finished 7th in the 2001 contest with 70 points.
