Teleradio-Moldova has launched the nation’s selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy.
From today until January 24 at 17:00 local time, singers can submit their songs to Eurovision.md or the TRM studios in Chisinau. Singers over the age of 16 years are eligible to compete, songs may not have been performed or released before September 1, 2022.
The Moldovan selection will be held in two phases. Entries will be assessed between January 25 and 28 before live auditions are held on January 29. Once auditions are held TRM can then decide to hold the Moldovan selection on March 5.
Moldova was represented by Natalia Gordienko at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with “Sugar”. Moldova finished 13th a total of 115 points, including 2 sets of 12 points from the juries of Bulgaria and Russia, and 2 sets of 12 points from the public in the Czech Republic and Moldova.

Moldova debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005 when the contest was held in Kyiv, Ukraine. That year, Bulgaria also debuted in the contest and Hungary returned after a long absence since 1998. Moldovaโs best result in the contest to date was 3rd place in 2017 for Sunstroke Project with โHey Mamma!โ, this was the second time the group had represented their country in Eurovision.
