RTVSLO has announced the three semi-finalists from the first week of EMA Freš 2022, all of whom will now compete in the televised shows.
The three acts that have secured a place in the televised semi-finals of EMA Freš 2022 have been announced. Following a day of voting, two artists were selected by an online vote, while one was selected by the jury. The three semi-finalists are:
- Stela Sofia – Tu in zdaj (Here and now)
- LPS – Disko (Disco)
- Jon Vitezič – Jesus Style
This means that Nika S. with “Počakaj me” (Wait for me) will now have to compete in the Second Chance rounds later this month.
A total of fourteen acts will progress through to the second stage of EMA Freš. Two shows will be held in January with seven songs in each of the shows, one song will be chosen by the public and one by the jury to go through to the final of EMA 2022. The four EMA Freš finalists will join sixteen acts who will compete to represent Slovenia at Eurovision 2022.
Slovenia was one of three countries to join the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993. The country qualified through a specially organised selection round called “Kvalifikacija za Millstreet” which was hosted in Slovenia, seven countries competed for three spots in Eurovision 1993. The country has participated in 22 editions of the Eurovision Song Contest. Their best result came in 1995 when Darja Švajger finished 7th scoring a total of 84 points, she is closely followed by Nuša Derenda who finished 7th in the 2001 contest with 70 points.
