Dutch artists Jaap Reesema and Armin van Buuren have submitted a song to represent The Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin.
The winner of the Dutch edition of X-Factor 2010, Jaap Reesema has spoken about submitting an entry with the internationally famous DJ, Armin van Buuren. Speaking to Algemeen Dagblad, Reesema has confirmed that they were notified two weeks ago that their song was not chosen for Eurovision 2022.
The duo is planning to release the song later on nevertheless, and have not ruled out a future participation. Jaap Reesema explained that:
“We of course think that it is an exceptionally good song. The lyrics would have fitted in with the theme of Eurovision. Obviously, it would have been awesome to travel to Italy but it is a good sign that there is such a tough race in The Netherlands. Eurovision has become prestigious.”
A commission consisting of Dutch television commentators Jan Smit and Cornald Maas as well as radio-DJs Coen Swijnenberg and Sander Lantinga is said to choose the Dutch entry for Eurovision 2022. Similarly to 2019, when The Netherlands’ winning entry was chosen, the group is more focused on the song itself, rather than the artist.
According to sources, pop-noir singer Lakshmi is said to be representing the country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin.
Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS hasnโt made any comment on the particular rumour.
