RTÉ closes the submissions window for artists wishing to represent Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 today.
Singers and acts wishing to represent Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin have until 19:00 CET to submit their songs to RTÉ today. The submissions window for the Irish national selection closes after just over a month.
RTÉ has stated that the Irish selection is ‘probably not an opportunity for beginners or people with limited or no experience of performing in public to large crowds.’ In addition, the following rules apply:
- Songs must meet the rules of the Eurovision Song Contest e.g. no longer than 3 minutes
- Composers may only submit one song each
- The song must not have been released or performed publicly before September 1, 2021
The Late Late Show will hold a Eurovision special in early 2022 with singers competing live to represent Ireland in Italy, the winner will be determined with the involvement of the public.
Lesley Roy represented Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with “Maps”. She finished last in the first semi-final with 20 points.
