RTCG, the Montenegrin broadcaster, has confirmed that they will participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022.
RTCG confirmed to ESCToday that they will return to Eurovision after a two-year break. Despite preliminarily confirming their participation in Eurovision 2020, Montenegro did not appear on the list of participating countries revealed by the EBU in November 2019. RTCG later attributed their withdrawal from the contest due to financial issues and also their recent results. Montenegro did not participate in 2021 either.
Details on how the Montenegrin entrant for Turin will be revealed at a later date. Montenegrin entrants were internally selected between 2009 and 2017 but on their first two and two most recent participations, the national final Montevizija was used.
Montenegro last participated in the 2019 contest, with the band D-Mol who represented the country with the song “Heaven”. They finished up placing 16th in the first Semi Final with 46 points.
Turin will host the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 on May 10, 12 and 14 2022. The host venue of the 2022 contest is PalaOlimpico. The arena was opened in 2005 and has hosted numerous concerts and sporting events, including the ice hockey tournaments during the 2006 Winter Olympics.

Montenegro in the Eurovision Song Contest
Montenegro debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest as an independent country in 2007, and participated until 2010 when they withdrew for financial reasons. They returned to the contest in 2012, and since then have always chosen their entry internally. Montenegro failed to qualify for the grand final until 2014, when Sergej Ćetković and his song “Moj svijet” placed 19th in the final. Their best result came a year later, when Knez performed “Adio” in Vienna. They have never reached the top 10, with Knez reaching 13th out of 27 countries.
