The twelve acts competing to represent Malta in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2021 have been announced.
TVM has announced the twelve acts that will be competing in the Malta Junior Eurovision Song Contest on October 16. The twelve acts were selected from a shortlist of twenty songs that were assessed by a second jury this week.
The twelve finalists are:
- Eksenia Sammut – Building
- Yulan Law – Change
- Amelia Kalabic – Dear World
- Rih & Bri – Drops like fire
- Kylie Milcallef – Keep Your Drama
- Ella Tohamy – Limitless
- Marija Djinovic – Magic
- Emma Briffa – My Angels Calling
- Ike Mizzie & Kaya Gouder Curmi – My Home
- Yulan Law – On My Way
- Myca, Kylie & Denzel Jo – Running Free
- Maria Curmi – Wild and Free
Of note is that Yulan Law will be competing with two songs in the selection. The second of Yulan’s songs “On My Way” was written by Amber who represented Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Vienna, Austria.
Malta debuted in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2003 and has gone on to win the contest twice. In 2013 on their return to the competition in Kyiv, Gaia Cauchi won the competition with “The Start”, she was the first winner of a Eurovision event for Malta. In 2015 Destiny Chukunyere took victory in Sofia, Bulgaria with the song “Not My Soul”. Malta finished last at the 2005 contest in Belgium with the song “Make It Right” performed by Thea & Friends.
