Karin Gunnarson Producer of Melodifestivalen has stated that they are planning to tour Sweden as part of Melodifestivalen 2022.
Melodifestivalen is planning to return to its tour across Sweden for the 2022 contest in the winter. Speaking on Sveriges Radio, Karin Gunnarson, Producer of Melodifestivalen said that they are currently planning a tour for 2022, however, it is unknown whether the pandemic will permit a tour or if an audience will be allowed.
Melodifestivalen traditionally toured the nation during the Heats and Andra Chansen, before returning to Stockholm for the final. For 2021 the contest was held Annexet in Stockholm without an audience.
Ms. Gunnarson added that she expected to see the number of songs submitted for Melodifestivalen in Swedish increase. She cites that the number of Swedish language song submissions has been increasing in recent years and the success of Clara Klingenstrรถm, or rock bands like Mustach and Lillasyster, should continue that trend.
She went on to add that in the submissions that they receive there is a trend for songs of a similar style to the previous year’s participants to be submitted, but that the production team is looking for strong songs rather than entries that fit into a specific style.
