Ceska Televize has announced its plans for a song submissions process for Eurovision 2022 but has not yet determined whether it will compete in Italy.
The Czech broadcaster CT has announced that an open song submissions process for Eurovision 2022 will be held in September. The deadline for songs to be submitted by will be September 30, with a form to submit songs being launched by September 17 at the least.
The rules of the song submissions process are:
- An artist can submit more than one song into the selection
- Songs must not have been published or performed publicly before September 1, 2021
- Lead singer must hold Czech citizenship
Ceska Televize notes that it reserves the right to cancel the selection process in the event that the Czech Republic does not participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022. The deadline for broadcasters to confirm its participation in Eurovision 2022 is expected to be in late September.

The Czech Republic have achieved their two highest places in the last 2 years, with Mikolas Josef coming 6th in Lisbon 2018 with the song “Lie to Me”. One year later in Tel Aviv, Lake Malawi achieved their second-best placing with their entry “Friend of a Friend” coming 11th. Before this, their best placing was Gabriela Gunčíková who came 25th in 2016. This was their first appearance in the grand final despite competing 4 times previously.
