Spain is the eleventh country to confirm it will be participating in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Paris, France.
RTVE has confirmed today that they will be participating in the 2021 Junior Eurovision Song Contest in France. The confirmation brings the number of countries confirmed as competing to eleven. Ana María Bordas, Head of Delegation commented:
We are delighted that one of the members of the Big Five is organising the festival. In addition, the decision to delay it to Celebrating it in the best conditions and joining it with Christmas seems to us to be the most appropriate for a children’s contest
The Spanish broadcaster has opted once again to internally select their representative for the competition. At the 2020 contest, Spain finished in third position at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Soleá performed “Palante” scoring a total of 133 points, just 1 point ahead of 4th place of the Netherlands. Overall Spain was 6th with the jury on 60 points and 2nd with the public scoring 73 points.
Junior Eurovision 2021
Paris will host the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2021 on December 19 in La Seine Musicale. The following countries have confirmed their participation so far:
- North Macedonia
- Portugal – Simão Oliveira

Spain first took part in the contest in 2003 and participated every year between then and 2006. In 2004, María Isabel brought Spain their only victory so far with “Antes muerta que sencilla”. After an absence of 13 years, Spain returned to the contest in 2019 with “Marte” by Melani García. Spain has finished in the top 5 in all of their attempts.
