The Danish public broadcaster DR has confirmed that it will participate in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Italy.
Denmark has confirmed to ESC Today that it will be participating in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2022, making its 50th appearance in the contest. With 3 wins and 49 appearances at the Eurovision Song Contest, Denmarks is among the most successful nations to have taken part in the show.
It has not been announced yet if Dansk Melodi Grand Prix will be used to select the 2022 singer and song. However, as DMGP has been used by DR to select the act every year since 1957 it is most likely the show will be used in 2022.
This year in Fyr Og Flamme won Dansk Melodi Grand Prix and so went on to sing “Øve Os På Hinanden” at the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest, the first time since 1997 that a song in completely in Danish was sent to the contest. The group failed to progress to the final of the contest and finished in 11th place in the 2nd Semi-final just missing out on making the final. Despite this, the group was able to reach number one on the Danish charts with their entry “Øve Os På Hinanden”.
