Fieldlab Events has released documents showing that a total of 48 attendees in the audience of Eurovision 2021 contracted COVID-19.
An average of five attendees per show at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 contracted COVID-19 nu.nl reports. The total of 48 cases across the contest works out to 1.6 cases per thousand people, which was lower than the COVID-19 rate in the Netherlands at the time of the competition.
The figures that have been reported by Fieldlab Events do not take into account the crew, volunteers, press or members of the delegations that attended the contest. The figures for these persons are expected to be published later this month.
During the course of the contest members of the Polish and Icelandic delegations contracted COVID-19. The most high-profile event was the positive case which saw the Icelandic representatives forced to pull out before the live shows and instead compete with a recording of their rehearsal.
