Doda has expressed her interest in representing Poland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022.
During a livestream on Instagram, Doda answered questions about her going to Eurovision 2022. She said that she would not participate to advance her career but rather for her fans and for fun. She also proposed a national final where she would sing two songs and the public would choose which one she would sing at Eurovision.
Doda also stated that if she were to represent Poland in Eurovision, several conditions would have to be met. She would like to choose the director of the performance herself, and also have an influence on the staging, have her personal team involved and receive an appropriate budget so that she can produce a staging at Eurovision level.
“I am able to make many, many compromises, but in this case, if I am to go about it and, as I emphasise, for others, I would like these conditions to be met.”
Doda’s potential participation in Eurovision 2022 has received support from Maria Sadowska, a singer who was a member of the jury for the Polish national selection in 2017, in which Doda performed as a guest:
“I was once on the jury for the Polish national selection. First there were the participants … and then Doda came out and blew everyone away in five seconds. My first thought was: ‘She’s the perfect artist for Eurovision. Nobody can put on such a great show. With a good song, she could conquer the world. ‘
Doda first rose to fame as the lead singer of the rock band Virgin. After the group disbanded in 2007, Doda began her solo career. Her first two albums went platinum and she is considered one of the most succesful artists in Poland. She has won multiple awards, including Best Polish Artist at the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2007 and 2009.
Doda’s participation in Eurovision has been rumoured for many years. In 2005, Virgin wanted to submit a song to Eurovision but decided against it after TVP decided to use an internal selection. In 2015, Doda stated that she was in talks to represent Poland, which were denied by TVP.
TVP have yet to confirm participation in Eurovision 2022.
Rafał Brzozowski represented Poland at the contest this year with his song “The Ride”. He failed to qualify to the final, finishing in 14th in the second semi-final.

Poland in the Eurovision Song Contest
Poland debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 alongside a number of other Eastern European countries. Their debut year saw their best result to date, as Edyta Gorniak finished in 2nd place with her song “To nie ja!”. Following this, Poland failed to repeat this initial success, managing a top 10 placing on only one other occasion during their initial 1994-2011 run in the contest. In 2012, following a string of non-qualifications, Poland withdrew from the contest due to financial difficulties. Since their return in 2014, they have been considerably more successful in the contest, having qualified for the final for every year up to 2017.
