DR has ruled out returning to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2021.
Denmark’s public broadcaster DR has ruled out a return to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2021. The broadcaster confirmed to Eurofestivales that they are not return to the contest which takes place this December in Paris, France.
Denmark took part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest from 2003 to 2005, and hosted the first edition of the contest in the Danish capital Copenhagen. The country never finished outside of the top five. Their best result comes from their 2005 entry “Shake Shake Shake”, performed by Nicolai Kielstrup. He finished in 4th place with 121 points.
Denmark withdrew from the contest along with NRK of Norway and SVT of Sweden due to the pressure put on the participants in the contest. DR continues to hold MGP Junior a children’s version of their Eurovision selection, which was the basis for the concept of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
Paris will host the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2021 on December 19 in La Seine Musicale. The following countries have confirmed their participation so far:
