Davina Michelle who performed as one of the interval acts at Eurovision 2021 has ruled out competing in the 2022 contest.
Speaking to RTL Davina Michelle has stated that she does not want to represent the Netherlands at Eurovision 2022, but is open to the possibility in the future. She said that:
“My team and I are all like: maybe the moment just isn’t here yet..I never say never, but I just don’t feel like now is the time to do it.”
Davina performed ‘The Power of Water’ as the interval act for the first Semi-Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2021.
AVROTROS has launched its search for the nation’s Eurovision 2021 entry. Songs can be brought to the attention of the committee selecting the Dutch entry by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Songs must be in a final state to be sent to the committee. The key rules for the selection are:
- Song must be ‘ convincingly distinctive’
- You may submit a maximum of the 3 best songs, considered convincingly fitting for the Eurovision Song Contest.
- Song has not been (commercially) released before 1 September 2021
- Final date of submission is 31st August 2021

The Netherlands debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1956 and has gone on to compete in all bar four contests. To date the Netherlands has won the contest on five occasions; 1957, 1959, 1969, 1975 and most recently 2019. Prior to Duncan Laurence’s victory in Tel Aviv, the Netherlands had been waiting 44 years for their next victory. Duncan Laurence won the contest in Israel with the song “Arcade”.
