Just under 1.2 million viewers tuned into the Portuguese broadcaster to watch the Grand Final of Eurovision 2021.
The 65th Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam was watched by 1.2 million viewers in Portugal on Saturday evening. During the four-hour-long contest, the Portuguese broadcaster RTP1 managed to capture 26.9% of the market share.
Over the course of the broadcast, 3,213,000 viewers watched the show making it the entertainment show with the highest reach of the year so far in Portugal.
The Black Mamba, who was representing Portugal with their song “Love Is On My Side” managed to reached 12th place in the Grand Final with 153 points.

Portugal debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1964 represented by Antonio Calvario, the country finished last scoring nul points. Prior to 2016, the best result of Portugal was 6th place which came in 1996 when Lucia Moniz performed in Oslo. She scored 92 points, receiving the 12 points from both Norway and Cyprus. Since their debut, Portugal have missed a total of five contests. In 2017, Portugal produced a spectacular win when Salvador Sobral took home the crystal microphone with his song “Amar Pelos Dois.” The 2018 contest was held in Lisbon, Portugal for the first time.
