In The Netherlands, just over 5.4 million people tuned in to watch their country host the Grand Final of Eurovision 2021 where they placed 23rd with 11 points.
When they won in 2019, an average 4.4 million viewers watched Duncan Lawrence take the trophy, this year the country’s viewership increased by 23.4% and the peak number of viewers in The Netherlands last night was 8.8 million who all at some watched the competition.
This year was their best rating for the show in the 2000s, the show was followed by 78.5% of the viewing audience. At its peak 8,829,000 viewers followed the contest.

The Netherlands debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1956 and has gone on to compete in all bar four contests. To date the Netherlands has won the contest on five occasions; 1957, 1959, 1969, 1975 and most recently 2019. Prior to Duncan Laurence’s victory in Tel Aviv, the Netherlands had been waiting 44 years for their next victory. Duncan Laurence won the contest in Israel with the song “Arcade”.
