The Grand Final of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest will not only be broadcast on Peacock in the United States.
US-based radio station WJFD, the largest Portuguese FM radio station outside Portugal, will be broadcasting the Grand Final of the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest for the third year.
Based in Massachusetts, WJFD 97.3 FM is the only FM-based Portuguese radio station in North America and the biggest FM station outside of Portugal broadcasting in the Portuguese language. WJFD has become the most-listened-to Portuguese radio station in the New England area providing news, sports and entertainment news.
Entertainment production company Cargill Gardiner Corp. from Los Angeles, Radio 6 International from Lismore, and Spence Media in Edinburgh, will together be providing commentary live from this year’s host country The Netherlands. Commentary will be provided by Ewan Spence, who has been covering the Eurovision Song Contest since 2009, providing radio documentaries, news features, and in-depth reporting of the contest.
Ewan has also been commentator for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest on UK radio since 2013. Ross Middleton joins Ewan as co-commentator. He runs Pif Paf Blog from his native Scotland, looking at the lighter side of the Song Contest. Ross is a regular on ESC Inisght podcasts and it’s Eurovision newsletter. This year’s event in the Ahoy Arena, Rotterdam marks the third year that US Radio has broadcast the Eurovision Song Contest to an FM radio audience in the US having previously covered the grand final from Lisbon, Portugal and Tel Aviv, Israel.
