Gísli Marteinn Baldursson has been confirmed as the Icelandic commentator for the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 in Rotterdam.
Gísli Marteinn Baldursson will be guiding Icelandic viewers through his 11th Eurovision Song Contest next month in Rotterdam. The presenter is best known for hosting Vikan með Gísla Marteini and Sunnudagsmorgunn for the Icelandic national broadcaster.
Gisli will be commentating on the coverage of the contest broadcast on RUV 1, with RUV 2 also broadcasting the Grand Final live with sign language commentary. RUV has not yet revealed who will be announcing the results of the Icelandic jury in the Grand Final.
Who is Daði & Gagnamagnið ?
Daði & Gagnamagnið will be representing Iceland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with “10 Years”. The group had a worldwide hit last year with their entry for the canceled 2020 Eurovision Song Contest “Think About Things”.

Iceland debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1986 and, aside from 2 years of relegation in 1998 and 2002, has participated every year since. The contest is incredibly popular in Iceland, regularly being one of the most watched programmes of the year. Iceland has yet to win the contest but has finished in 2nd on two occasions. In 1999, Selma missed out on victory in Jerusalem by 17 points, and in 2009 Yohanna became the most successful Icelandic entrant ever finishing 2nd in the final with the song “Is it True?”. She scored 218 points, yet still finished 169 points behind the runaway winner Norway.
