Could we see Slovakia debut at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest this year?
The Head of the RTVS international relations department, Slavomira Kubickova, has told Eurofestivales that Slovakia “has not closed the door to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2021”. The broadcaster is yet to make a definite decision on their participation, however, they have gone from a certain “no” to a “maybe” in the past few years.
In 2019, it was reported that they would not make their debut, and last year they hadn’t considered it due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The country previously planned on participating in the first edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2003 but budget problems prevented the country from taking part. Slovakia’s last participation in a Eurovision event was in Eurovision Young Dancers in 2015.
To date, the following countries have confirmed their participation in the 2021 Junior Eurovision Song Contest in France:
