Dinah Nah has stated on Instagram that an entry she recorded for Melodifestivalen 2021 is now one of the favourites to win Eurovision 2021.
Swedish singer Dinah Nah has revealed in an Instagram story that a song she had recorded to compete in Melodifestivalen 2021, is now one of the favourites to take victory at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021. In the post which can be seen below, the singer reveals that the song was rejected from competing in Melodifestivalen 2021 and was subsequently picked up by another country.
It has been speculated that Dinah’s song is either the Maltese entry “Je me casse” or “Adrenalina” from San Marino. This would not be the first time that Sweden has turned down a song from Melodifestivalen for it to then end up competing for another country at the Eurovision Song Contest.
Notable entries that have been turned down include:
- Latvia 2008 – Wolves of the Sea
- Denmark 2010 – In a Moment Like This
- Denmark 2018 – Higher Ground
A number of songs are known to be proposed to a number of countries and submitted into multiple selections before making it either to a selection or Eurovision. This year saw “Colors” compete in Dora 2021, the song had originally been proposed as the Bulgarian entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2016.

Sweden debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1958 and has gone on to be one of the contest’s most successful countries. The country has won the contest six times, the most recent being in 2015. Sweden’s first victory came in 1974 when ABBA won the contest in Brighton with “Waterloo”. Since missing out on the final in 2010, Sweden has gone on to finish 3rd twice and has won the contest twice, only in 2013 did the country place outside of the top 10 in the final.
