LIENNE has revealed to ESC Kompakt that she was one of the artists that competed to represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021.
LIENNE was one of the artists that made it through to the final stage of the German Eurovision selection in Cologne. The singer from Augsburg revealed to ESC Kompakt that she was approached by NDR to take part in the selection process for Eurovision 2021. She made it through all the stages of the selection from songwriting camps to compete in the final round with two songs. She explained that:
I was totally prepared, got extra outfits, and was made beautiful there in the mask. I’ve never had that in my life either! So I’m all the more happy that I was allowed to be there because it was just a really cool experience. Maybe I was just not ready to run for Germany.
She went on to compete in the Lithuanian selection for this years contest was a songwriter. “Thank You Very Much” which was written by the singer was pitched to a number of countries before Martyna in Lithuania chose to perform it.
LIENNE added that she would love to take part in the German selection process again and represent her country at the Eurovision Song Contest in the future.

Germany was one of seven countries to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1956. The country has taken part in every contest since then, apart from in 1996 when they failed to make it through the qualifying round. To date Germany has won the contest twice, the first time being in 1982 when Nicole sang “Ein Bisschen Frieden” in Harrogate, which later became a global hit. Germany didn’t win again until 2010 when Lena sang “Satellite” in Oslo. She received 9 sets of 12 points, scoring 246 points overall.
