3.6 Million viewers saw this year’s final of Melodifestivalen with a share of 81% of TV viewers seeing Tusse win the right to sing for Sweden at Eurovision 2021.
3,625,000 viewers saw the final of Melodifestivalen 2021 on SVT 1. 81% of total TV viewers at the time were watching Melodifestivalen. This years final saw the highest shear of viewers since Melodifestivalen 2013. Last year’s final only saw 77% of TV views watching the show. The overall number of viewers was the highest seen since 2017. Over 1.1 million unique voters cased a total of 16,752,439 votes during the show.
All of this year’s Melodifestivalen Semi-Finals have seen close to 3 million viewers for each show when counting both TV and online viewers. All shows having seen Increases in the numbers compared to last year’s 2020 Melodifestivalen. The viewing figures so far are:
- Semi-Final One – 3.2 Million viewers
- Semi-Final Two – 3.1 million viewers
- Semi-Final Three – 3.2 million viewers
- Semi-Final Four – 2.9 million viewers
- Andra Chansen -2.7 Million Viewers

- Tusse – Voices – [79+96] – 175 points – 1st place
- Alvaro Estrella – Baila Baila – [7+19] – 26 points – 10th place
- Clara Klingenström – Behöver inte dig idag – [39+52] – 91 points – 5th place
- Eric Saade – Every Minute – [69+49] – 118 points – 2nd place
- Dotter – Little Tot – [57+48] – 105 points – 4th place
- Arvingarna – Tänker inte alls gå hem – [22+22] – 44 points – 9th place
Tusse debuted this year in Melodifestivalen after winning the Swedish Idol in 2019, qualifying directly from the third semi-final. Due to Covid, all six Melodifestivalen 2021 shows took place in Annexet in Stockholm, with no live audience. Tusse will perform in the first half of the first semi-final on May 18.

Sweden debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1958 and has gone on to be one of the contest’s most successful countries. The country has won the contest six times, the most recent being in 2015. Sweden’s first victory came in 1974 when ABBA won the contest in Brighton with “Waterloo”. Since missing out on the final in 2010, Sweden has gone on to finish 3rd twice and has won the contest twice, only in 2013 did the country place outside of the top 10 in the final.
