Marvin Dietmann has been revealed as the Artistic Director for the Czech Republic at the Eurovision Song Contest 2021.
Benny Cristo’s performance at Eurovision 2021 is being staged by Marvin Dietmann. Marvin is an Austrian born Artistic Director and TV Producer who has worked numerous times before at the Eurovision Song Contest, he has staged performances for nations such as Austria and Cyprus.
Speaking to ESCCZ, he explained what we can expect from Benny’s performance:
“(From the music video) we keep him going and present kaleidoscopic scenography which starts in a more personal or intimate scene at the beginning and it will develop into a crowdy, positive, dance vibe”
He went on to explain that for their backup performance the Czech delegation has built a small set for their recording, that will working exactly for their staging plans. Marvin is also working with Spain and Cyprus on their performances for the competition in May.
Benny Cristo will be performing “Omaga” for the Czech Republic this May, The title is short for “Oh my god”, is mostly in English but also features a line in Czech.
Who is Benny Cristo?
Benny Cristo (born Ben Cristóvão) was born on June 8, 1987 in Plzeň in the west of Czech Republic to Czech and Angolan parents. The singer rose to fame in 2009 after participating in the talent show Superstar, where he was a finalist. Since then, he has released 3 albums, 3 EPs, and numerous singles. His most recent single (before his Eurovision song) “Aleiaio” reached #3 in the Radio Top 100 in the Czech Republic.

The Czech Republic have achieved their two highest places in the last 2 years, with Mikolas Josef coming 6th in Lisbon 2018 with the song “Lie to Me”. One year later in Tel Aviv, Lake Malawi achieved their second best placing with their entry “Friend of a Friend” coming 11th. Before this, their best placing was Gabriela Gunčíková who came 25th in 2016. This was their first appearance in the grand final despite competing 4 times previously.
