Following the first 2 evenings of the 71st Sanremo Festival, the full results of the demoscopic jury votes have been revealed.
Over the past 2 evenings, the 71st Sanremo Festival has been taking place in Italy. The 26 competing songs from the Campioni (Big Artist) round have now been performed for the first time, and the results of the first 2 shows have been combined to create a full demoscopic jury ranking. The demoscopic jury is made up of music fans who have been selected by Ipsos to vote on the competing entries, and their votes create a ranking of all songs performed each evening.

Over the next 2 evenings, the Sanremo orchestra and a jury will also vote on the competing artists in Night 3 and 4 respectively. On the final evening of the festival, the overall ranking will be determined by the votes obtained from the public (34%), the jury (33%) and the demoscopic jury (33%). The top 3 acts following this vote will qualify for the Superfinal, from which the winner will be determined.
Italy debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1956 and has participated a total of 42 times to date. Italy returned to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2011 having last participated in the contest in 1997, the country has withdrawn from the contest on a number of occasions in the past. Italy has won the contest twice, the first time being in 1964 and the latest being in 1990. Italy’s hosting of the contest in 1991 has been remembered as one of the most chaotic contests to date. Since their return in 2011 Italy has finished in the top 10 on seven occasions.
