BBC Alba has ruled out Scotland making its debut appearance in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2021.
BBC Alba has confirmed to ESC Bubble that it does not plan to participate in the 2021 edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in France. It had been speculated that the Scottish broadcaster may participate following the confirmation from Welsh broadcaster S4C that it will not be competing in this years contest.
Scotland made its debut appearance in a Eurovision contest in 2019 when the nation competed in the second edition of Eurovision Choir. Scotland was represented by the choir Alba performing in Scottish Gaelic.
Junior Eurovision 2021
Junior Eurovision 2021 is set to be held in France following the victory of Valentina at the 2020 contest in Poland. The following countries have so far confirmed participation:
- France – Host Country
- Ireland – Return
- The Netherlands
