Just days after winning Melodi Grand Prix 2021, TIX is already working on filming his backup tape performance for Eurovision 2021, to be used should he be unable to make it to Rotterdam in person.
NRK has revealed via social media that TIX has been working on filming his backup tape performance for Eurovision 2021. This will be used should TIX be unable to travel to Rotterdam in May.
The staging appears to be identical to TIX’s winning national final performance although one of the Demons has been removed as only six performers are allowed in accordance with the rules set out for backup tape performances.
The EBU will monitor the filming of all backup performances to ensure they comply with the rules set out by the EBU. The recording is taking place on the same stage as Melodi Grand Prix, with NRK given 1 hour to record up to three performances in.

The EBU also stated the backup performance does not need to resemble the live performance in May, meaning NRK is still free to change the staging should TIX be able to perform live in Rotterdam.
This year all 43 acts will need to film a backup performance as part of the many contingency measures the EBU has put in place to ensure the song contest can happen in May no matter what. So far the EBU has ruled out a standard Eurovision song contest known as scenario A. You can read more about all of the remaining contingency measures Here.
Who is Tix
TIX (Andreas Haukeland) was born on 12th April 1993 in Bærum, Norway. His stage name “TIX” (“ticks”) is a nod to his diagnosed Tourettes syndrome. The singer is an advocate for mental health openness and has shared his thoughts and experiences in the past.
He began his professional music career in 2016, where his debut studio album Dømt og berømt reached number 2 in the Norwegian Albums Charts. Since then, he’s gone on to release numerous singles, including “Jeg vil ikke leve”, “Kaller på deg”, and “Karantene”, all of which reached #1 in the Norwegian charts. He also co-wrote the hit “Sweet but Psycho” by Ava Max.

Norway debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1960 and have won the contest three times – in 1985, 1995 and 2009. The country has the dubious record of finishing last the most times, eleven in total, and have received nul points four times. Norway last won the contest in 2009 when Alexander Rybak broke all records with his song “Fairytale”. He scored 387 points in the final, receiving 16 sets of 12 points and scoring points from every country.
After he’s done with his backup performance, will he later film a music video for “Fallen Angel”?
