The Roop have broken their own streaming records within Lithuania with their new song “Discoteque” with The Roop also asking fans to take part in their new TikTok Challenge.
Warner Music Baltics has revealed that “Discoteque” has become the most-streamed song in one week in Lithuania on Spotify, a record previously achieved with “On Fire” by the Roop last year in 2020. This helped push “Discoteque to number one in Lithuanian digital and airplay charts. “On Fire” also rejoined the charts at number 16.
The Roop is now encouraging fans to take part in the Discoteque TikTok Challenge under the hashtag #theroopchallenge. The Roop is asking fans to dance or move their fingers in this viral challenge.
The Roop are due to compete in the final of Pabandom iš Naujo, Lithuania’s National selection for this years Eurovision Song Contest this February 6th. You can view the record-breaking music video for “Discoteque” below:
Last year in 2020, The Roop was one of the most-streamed Lithuanian artists of that year thanks to their hit Eurovision 2020 song “On Fire”. Last year “On Fire” was streamed 6 million times on Spotify and its official music video on YouTube was watched over 9 million times. “On Fire” would go on to win Eurovision 2020 – Das Deutsche Finale, the German alternative TV final which aired after the overall competition was cancelled.
Up until the cancellation of Eurovision 2020 The Roop were one of the fan favourites to win the show overall. The Roop ended 2020 with five Lithuanian Music Awards M.A.M.A. nominations for the upcoming 2021 M.A.M.A. awards.

Lithuania debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994, however on their debut they finished in last place with nul points. Lithuania didn’t return to the contest until 1999 when Aiste finished 20th with the song “Strazdas”. Lithuania’s best result came in 2006 when LT United performed “We Are The Winners”; they finished 6th in the final with a total of 162 points. Lithuania’s only other top 10 finish came in 2016 when Donny Montell performed “I’ve Been Waiting For This Night” in Stockholm, he received 12 points from the public in Ireland, Norway & United Kingdom.
