The artists and songs competing in the 2021 edition of Festival da Canção are set to be revealed today.
Today RTP will present the twenty artist and songs that will be competing in Festival da Canção 2021. A press conference is set to be held at 17:45 CET to reveal the acts and songs that are vying to represent Portugal at the Eurovision Song Contest in May.
The twenty composers competing in the contest were revealed late last year and have chosen the artist that will perform their song. Of the 20 composers, 18 were directly invited by RTP. Miguel Marôco and Pedro Gonçalves were selected through a public selection. A total of 693 submissions were made through the public selection, which is the highest number of songs ever submitted to this selection.
The songwriters and semi-final split is as follows:
Participating in Semi-Final One are:
- Anne Victorino d’Almeida
- Fábia Maia
- Filipe Melo
- Helder Moutinho
- Miguel Marôco
Participating in Semi-Final Two are:
- Carolina Deslandes
- Da Chick
- Joana Alegre
- João Vieira
- Pedro da Linha
- Pedro Gonçalves
The two semi-finals will take place on February 20 and 27 in RTP Studios in Lisbon. From each semi-final, five songs will qualify for the final, which will be held in a currently undisclosed location. The final is scheduled for March 6.
